Dear parents, carers, staff and governors,
I thought a very brief update might be useful to you today. Can I firstly start by saying a huge thank you for your support. I am exceptionally proud of our remote learning and in school provision and hope that everybody is still feeling very connected and very much a part of our community. The Zoom lessons have gone well this week and attendance has been excellent, it is very important that our pupils maintain their excellent attendance and attitudes. As you know from previous communication, we are monitoring this and will let you know if lessons are being missed by text or phone call. We are going to build in a couple of tutor time sessions going forward on a Monday and Wednesday so please make sure that your child is joining their tutor for a check in and to complete Wellbeing Wednesday activities.
A reminder that we have also gone back to only having one break and lunchtime with break between 11.10 – 11.30am and lunchtime 1.30 – 2.15pm, this has changed the start time of some lessons, as previously communicated and in the planner. This is also working very well in school and we have introduced today, hot chocolate or tea and a snack at breaktime for the pupils that are with us in school which they all seemed to enjoy and it helped them warm up a bit.
I would also like to say thank you to all the staff who have been on hand to offer ICT support so that we can keep things going and please do keep phoning in with your questions – we are here to help us all to get through what I hope will be a short phase in Lockdown 3.0. Thank you so much for all of your positive comments, they do mean a lot to us in school and help us to keep going. I can promise you that we really are doing our very best and know that you all are at home too.
Year 11 parents and pupils will receive a further communication today with details about mock exams and the cancellation of the summer exams. We are also going to attempt our first Zoom assembly with Year 11 so that we can talk them through all of these issues.
Please do let us know if there is anything further you think that we can do to help.
With very best wishes to all of our Corbet School community,
Dr Jane Tinker
