The Corbet School’s Diamond Anniversary
In 2017 The Corbet School will be celebrating its 60th year with a Diamond Anniversary Festival which will be held at school on Saturday 20th May. The festival is part of a yearlong celebration which will include a variety of events and activities. As well as celebrating our past we aim to raise funds to allow us to refurbish the science laboratories to make them suitable for modern science lessons.
Our vision is for the Festival day itself to span the afternoon and evening (hopefully outside!), with a programme of performances on the stage, sporting activities, competitions, craft and commercial stalls, reunion events, food, bar and much more! We are at the exciting stage of planning and are looking for contributions and ideas from our students, staff, parents, local groups, primary schools and businesses. Our theme is ‘Through the Decades’ to add to the fun!
In addition to the Anniversary Festival we will be encouraging our students to focus their fundraising activities in 2017 towards this goal. It will not detract from their activities in raising money for the charities they wish to support but proceeds may be shared, with the exception of Children in Need and Comic Relief where they will receive all that is raised. One of the planned activities is to hold a grand prize draw throughout the year.
We are very aware that The Corbet School is part of the local community and that many parents, children; primary schools, businesses and local organisations have all been a part of our history. We hope that you are able to support us with this exciting year ahead.
