Open Day 2017

Provisional 2017 Exam Results
The Corbet School are extremely proud to have achieved another year of excellent exam results and would like to congratulate Year 11 2017 for their success, achieved from their dedication and hard work.
There has been significant changes to GCSE examinations and the grading in maths and English.
In these times of change it is pleasing to see how well Corbet students have responded to this challenge and have achieved some excellent results:
Provisional Results:
Standard Pass (Old grade C) in English (L4+): 88%
Strong Pass in English (L5+): 73%
Standard Pass (Old grade C) in Maths (L4+): 79%
Strong Pass in Maths (L5+): 64%
Achieving Standard Pass (Old grade C) (L4+) in maths and English: 76%
Achieving Strong Pass (L5+) in maths and English: 59%
Using the old Measure 72 % of students achieved at least 5 GCSE’s at grades A*-C inc English and maths.

MFL Department Launch A Trip to Spain for Year 8 Pupils
The MFL department are delighted to be launching a trip to Spain for year 8 pupils who are studying Spanish in 2018. Pupils will be given letters today (Friday 7th June 2017) (Link to letter below) with all relevant details. We have managed to secure an extremely reasonable deal for this 4 night, full board trip which includes all flights, coach travel, guided tours, Spanish hand cookery lessons and fully comprehensive insurance * PLEASE NOTE- WE ARE AWARE OF THE VERY SHORT TIME GIVEN TO RETURN SLIPS AND £250 DEPOSIT. THIS IS OWEING TO INABILITY TO LAUNCH THE TRIP ANY EARLIER THIS YEAR AND THE NEED TO KEEP THE OVERALL PRICE AS LOW AS POSSIBLE BY RESERVING FLIGHTS IN JULY. APOLOGIES FOR ANY DIFFICLUTIES THAT WE UNDERSTAND THIS MIGHT CAUSE*

SnapChat Map and Locations
You may have read in the news that SnapChat has recently updated its privacy policy. Under the new terms, posts are tagged with location data, presenting a possible security risk for users, especially children.
This link below gives further information. Specifically, it counsels that sharing your location can be a risky thing to do, and gives these tips:
• Only share your location with people you know in person. Never share your location with strangers.
• Don’t add contacts to Snapchat if you don’t know them in person.
• Regularly review your settings and take an active decision about whether you want people to know your location.
Think about who you’re sharing your location with. Location services such as Snap Maps can lead people to your house.
It is advised that SnapChat users change their settings so as to hide their location by default. Pupil users should certainly do this.
