The Humanities Department are organising a four day educational visit to the First World War Battlefields in Belgium and France. The trip is intended to enhance the students’ learning of he Year 9 Twentieth Century course. The cost of the trip is £360 and offers pupils the opportunity to gain an understanding of the events of 1914-1918, and to reflect on what was lost, and the sacrifices that were made, as they visit some of the world’s most famous battle grounds, memorials and cemeteries in the Somme, Ypres and Verun areas.
The visit is being organised in association with NST Travel Group Limited and the cost includes:
- Travel by executive coach and use throughout the visit
- Channel Crossing: Dover or Folkstone to Calais return
- Three nights full board accommodation at the Hotel Oude Abdji and a two course meal in a restaurant at Ypres
- Entrance fees
- Services of a trained guide throughout the visit.
