Our School library is open from 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, and on Friday 3.20pm to 4.00pm.
We provide a safe haven for all and we encourage our Library users to read books, research for homework and revise for exams. We also offer a number of ‘social’ activities (see below).
Rules:
We are a busy library and our maximum occupancy is limited to fifty due to health & safety requirements.
We do ask pupils to respect each other by ‘lowering the volume’. Periodically we have ‘Whispering Wednesday’ to reinforce this message.
No food or drink is allowed in the library without prior permission from Mrs Brett (our Library Coordinator).
Books:
We have a wide range of books located in our Reference, Non Fiction and Fiction Sections. Factual books are shelved in numerical order (following the Dewey Decimal System) and novels can be found by searching for the specific genre and then by author (alphabetical order by author surname). For those pupils wishing to read our full range of Manga, we have a consent form which we ask parents/carers to sign.
WE WANT pupils to enjoy reading; please ask Mrs Brett or one of our Student Librarians for book recommendations. Equally, if you are enjoying reading a book not stocked by our library, please let us know, we have a wish list.
Book loans and returns are recorded on our ESS Library database and each pupil has their own account.
Library books can be returned either at the Issues Desk or by posting through the letterbox under the Library noticeboard in the main corridor.
Library Books: The Rule of 3
Pupils may borrow up to 3 Library books at any one time.
Pupils have 3 weeks to read (the return date is recorded on the date plate).
Book loans may be renewed for an additional 3 weeks.
Please note that a flat rate of £3 is payable to help cover the cost of replacing a Library book which has been badley damaged or lost by the borrower.
