Hello and a very warm welcome to our wonderful school. My name is Jane Tinker and I am delighted and proud to be the Headteacher of this very special school.
I am in my third year as Headteacher at The Corbet School, following seven years here as Deputy Headteacher. Prior to my time at The Corbet, I spent 17 years at Wrockwardine Wood School in Telford – starting my teaching career with two years teaching at a forces school in Germany.
As a parent myself I know what an important choice you have before you in choosing a secondary school for your son or daughter. I have three children and so I have experienced being where you are now and know how quickly time passes and before you know it your children have left school. As a parent myself I have an insight into what life is like with pre-teens and teenagers in the home and the challenges faced by young people themselves and parents trying to help, support and guide them. I hope this means that in my relationships with all members of The Corbet School community that I am kind, with a genuine understanding and insight into how to help and get the very best out of people.
I want to ensure that after having visited our website you have a very thorough understanding of what The Corbet School has to offer. Parents who choose The Corbet School have entrusted us with the most important and rewarding job in the world – the care and education of your child. This is a responsibility that we take very seriously.
As I have said previously, I am very proud to be part of an exceptionally dedicated and caring staff who work tirelessly for the benefit of our exceptional students. I thoroughly enjoy working at The Corbet and I have an unshakeable belief in the potential of all our students. I remain determined that the school builds on its legacy and continues to flourish and maintain its position at the heart of our rural community and I am actively working with the whole community as we strive for even greater success for all our young people. By working together we can ensure that all students enjoy their time at school, make excellent progress and leave us with the necessary skills and attitudes to lead successful, happy and fulfilling lives as flexible, agile and outward looking young people ready to meet the demands of a fast evolving world. At The Corbet School, we ensure that all our pupils reach their full potential – academically and socially. We do this by treating each learner as an individual and delivering high quality teaching. This has resulted in excellent academic standards and outstanding student behaviour.
This is set out in the vision statement for our school where:
‘excellence, innovation and tradition meet to fulfil the needs and aspirations of all members of our school community’
And summarized in the three words on the prospectus:
Inspire • Achieve • Succeed
This is what we strive to do and I hope that you enjoy finding out more about us on the website.
Please do listen to what our pupils have to say about the school, they are our best advocates and we are very proud of them.
Any questions please do get in touch and ask. We are keen to help and support you as you make this very important decision for your child.
Very best wishes,
Jane Tinker
