Dear Parents and Carers
Plans for 1st March 2023 – NEU (National Education Union)
This is an early communication to share with you the plans to manage the industrial action being taken by the National Education Union on the 1st March 2023, having reviewed the likely staffing position on that date. I will update you on the Monday, after half term, of any changes but wanted to give you advance warning so that you can plan accordingly.
School will be closed for pupils in years 7 and 8 on Wednesday 1st March.
We will be offering places in school for our vulnerable children and children of critical workers, who will be able to complete online learning tasks. To book a place for pupils in Year 7 and Year 8 please email CriticalKeyWorker@corbetschool.net with the pupil name and form by 8.30am on Monday 27th February. We aim to minimise the impact on learning, as much as possible, and year 7 and 8 teachers who are in school will be setting work on Satchel:One for pupils to complete. Pupils in Year 7 and 8 will need to check Satchel at the start of each lesson to see if they have any work to complete. Staff not taking industrial action will be able to respond to messages on Satchel during their timetabled lesson.
Year 9, 10 and 11 will be in school as normal on this day, and they will follow their normal timetable. We may need to make adjustments, on the day, due to unexpected staff absences but will aim to run the timetable as normal. As a contingency, could all pupils please bring their PE kit into school and ensure that they have a book with them to read.
School transport will run as normal.
Thank you for your understanding and support; we will do our very best to make sure that the 1st March runs as smoothly as possible. We will write to you with further information regarding the future strikes over the coming weeks.
On another note, thank you for all of the hot chocolate donations, we have made £300 so far and I am hoping that we might reach £500 by the end of the week; your support and generosity is very much appreciated. I hope that you have a lovely, restful half term.
Yours sincerely
Dr Jane Tinker
