In 2017 The Corbet School will be celebrating its 60th year with a Diamond Anniversary Festival which will be held at school on Saturday 20th May. The festival is part of a yearlong celebration which will include a variety of events and activities. As well as celebrating our past we aim to raise funds to allow us to refurbish the science laboratories to make them suitable for modern science lessons.
Our vision is for the Festival day itself to span the afternoon and evening (hopefully outside!), with a programme of performances on the stage, sporting activities, competitions, craft and commercial stalls, reunion events, food, bar and much more! We are at the exciting stage of planning and are looking for contributions and ideas from our students, staff, parents, local groups, primary schools and businesses. Our theme is ‘Through the Decades’ to add to the fun!
In addition to the Anniversary Festival we will be encouraging our students to focus their fundraising activities in 2017 towards this goal. It will not detract from their activities in raising money for the charities they wish to support but proceeds may be shared, with the exception of Children in Need and Comic Relief where they will receive all that is raised. One of the planned activities is to hold a grand prize draw throughout the year.
We are very aware that The Corbet School is part of the local community and that many parents, children; primary schools, businesses and local organisations have all been a part of our history. We hope that you are able to support us with this exciting year ahead.
There has been a recent attempted abduction of a pupil walking home from school in the Weston Rhyn area. The police are involved. Our Crime Prevention Officer, Ian Bartlett has advised that students do not walk to or from school alone.
‘The Corbet School is keen to support the local community by encouraging feedback regarding the road changes and installation of a zebra crossing in Baschurch.
The main purpose for this installation was to improve the safety aspect for children and we would like to know if you feel this has improved.
If you live in Baschurch would you please take a few minutes to complete the attached short survey before 14th October.
The survey is available through the following link :- https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/baschurch-road-improvements-parent-survey ’
Year 7 & 9 Individual photographs will take place on Monday 12th September 2016. Pupils should be in full school uniform, including sweatshirts.
This is a great informal opportunity for you and your child to enjoy a tour of this excellent rural comprehensive school. We look forward to welcoming you.
