The following emotional health and wellbeing training sessions are being offered in July and August 2021, by Beam. All sessions take place on MS Teams, and are open to parents, carers and professionals who are interested in attending.
There is no need to book – just click into the link at the session time.
Mental Health & Emotional well-being in children & young people
Wednesday 7 July 2021, 12.00noon – 1.30pm
This session will cover effective communication, empathy versus sympathy and an overview of common emotional well-being topics such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation and anger.

Sleepy Heads: 2 session workshop around sleep & common issues
It is advisable to attend both sessions.
Session 1:
Wednesday 21 July 2021, 12pm-1.30pm
This session will cover sleep stages, sleep hygiene and bedtime routines.

Wednesday 4 August 2021, 12.00 noon-1.30pm
This session will cover tackling common issues around sleep including prolonged night-time awakenings, teen sleep, bedtime refusal and resistance.

Managing anxious behaviours in young people

This session will cover what anxiety is, the science of anxiety and how to support anxiety.

Beam continues to provide emotional well-being support to young people in Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.
Support should be requested via the website: users should scroll down to ‘register with us’ and complete the form that follows. Please note that the ‘register with us’ link should also be used to request follow-up sessions. Requests for service will be processed by the admin team, and appointments then sent out by email.
Beam provide support by phone, virtual sessions via MS Teams and limited face to face sessions from their Wellington venue. They are strictly appointment-only and cannot accept any walk-ins. Once a request for service is received via the website, they will arrange a telephone appointment for an initial contact, in which their practitioners will discuss the format of future sessions.

A government voucher is available to pay for the connection, if about half the properties claim a voucher; all you would have to pay for is a broadband service of at least 30MBps and double your current speed from your chosen provider. Year 8 HPV & Year 10 School Leavers/DTP/ACWY Vaccinations.
Dear Parent/Carer
Following on from the previous emails sent on Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th January, please find information below regarding the Year 8 HPV & Year 10 School Leavers/DTP/ACWY Vaccinations.
The School Immunisation Team are running Year 8 Vaccinations on Monday 1st February & Year 10 Vaccinations on Tuesday 2nd February in the Sports Hall.
Vaccinations are by APPOINTMENT ONLY which can be made by speaking to the Immunisation Team on 01743 730028 as well as any questions you may have. Please do not call school as this event is being co-ordinated by the Immunisation Team and not the school.
Arrangements for the day
- Car park adjacent to the sports hall will be reserved for visitors
- Parents & pupils to remain in cars until their allocated appointment time – they do not need to come to Reception for any reason
- Please only arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time and remain in the car. The pupil will be escorted into the allocated school building and back afterwards, via the Fire Exit & not the main entrance
- Please do not notify school about pupils being absent from Zoom lessons, we will be aware & will mark their attendance accordingly.
